Gmail Trouble When Use ThunderBird and Avg

If you have problem to connect with gmail from thuderbird in windows and you use AVG as your anti virus, i found the solution from internet.

First you must setting the AVG, click two times AVG tray icon, and your AVG popup control center will come. Click again at Email scanner Block and you will open AVG Control Center - Email Scanner.

FOR POP3 Server

Choose button properties and click tab servers. Click button add , on tree menu in left side choose Server type, and choose POP3-Protocal for receive e-mail messages.

After that please choose again on left side menu connection and click checkbox fixed host and enter this value on text box pop.gmail.com.

Set the local port with 5200 , click checkbox Use APOP When Available (as checked), and choose TLS on connection drop down.

Checkbox activate this server .... and click ok.


FOR SMTP SERVER

Still on tab server menu, please choose button add again on now choose SMTP on your server type. choose connection menu on left side and enter this on fixed host (checked) smtp.gmail.com set the local port with 5100 choose queue processing with manual and choose TLS on drop down.


Click button ok and close the avg.

THUNDERBIRD SETTING

I think you has finish setting the gmail account on your thunderbird. Now we set thunderbird use AVG as pop and smtp server.
1. TOOLS > Account Setting
2. under your gmail tree choose server setting
-. set Server Name with 127.0.0.1
-. port 5200
-. user name your username at gmail
-. use secure connection never
- . use secure authentication not checked
3. Choose SMTP on the tree and click button edit for your smtp gmail account
-. set Server Name with 127.0.0.1
-. port 5100
-. user name your username at gmail
-. check use name and password
-. use secure connection : no

After that you can try this configuration, I hope this can help us.

Thank you very much for this. For some reason when I set it up with a gmail account before it didn't have any issues. This time it was just throwing blank error messages. Again, thanks.
